THE STORY: The Cora Sun-Drop Diamond is the largest, yellow, pear-shaped diamond in the world, weighing in at 110.3 carats. Coloured by tiny amounts of nitrogen trapped in the carbon molecules The Cora was formed between 1 and 3 billion years ago and was discovered in South Africa in 2010. It was sold in 2011 at an auction in Geneva for almost £7 million to an anonymous buyer.
A new fragrance from luxury British fragrance house Thameen, inspired by this rare gemstone, ‘The Cora’, is a bright, golden, multi-faceted spectrum of rare and beautiful ingredients as mesmerising and timeless as its namesake.
THE FRAGRANCE: Radiance opens this modern classic with an iridescent burst of white jasmine and magnolia that shimmer atop vivid-yellow Bulgarian roses and honeyed wisteria. Gently spiced nutmeg catches the light and segues effortlessly into the floral lustre of carnation and lily of the valley. Benzoin sharpens the senses before a translucent vanilla slides into the glazed base of golden amber, patchouli and a luminous white musk. THE STORY: Solah Shringar is a 16 stage ritual to prepare royal women for public appearance. Indian royalty were considered somewhere between man and God and this ritual adornment with perfumes and jewels created something of a super-human presence. The name itself comes from temple designs and decorations and the image of the women, once decorated, as a perfect, carved goddess. A unique Oud was selected from the South of India, one of the highest quality Oud oils, it is both angular and edgy.
THE FRAGRANCE: The unique Oud from the South of India, angular and sweetly edgy, dictates this heavenly scent. The top note blends beautifully with cedar wood and guaiac. At the base, a pure patchouli and sunbaked vetivert add depth and warmth polished off by a smooth, temperate musk. Divine.

THE STORY: A ‘Rivière’ is a classic necklace comprised of gemstones that are of identical size or seamlessly graduated. One of the most famous Rivière belonged to Queen Mary and consisted of 34 old cut diamonds. She subsequently gifted the necklace to her granddaughter, Princess Margaret, and it was sold at Christies for almost £1 million in 2006. The new fragrance is dedicated to balance and a flawless progression of rare and sparkling ingredients combined to adorn the skin.
THE FRAGRANCE: Shimmering at the top, spiced notes of Indian black pepper and Persian saffron meld mellifluously into cinnamon from Ceylon and a luminous lemon blossom accord. This is dark, carnal and animalic: a patchouli with a musky sexuality, power, opulence. It captures the raw passion of Pluto, the darkness of the underworld; as well as the opulence of the hidden treasures of his kingdom, such as precious gems, minerals and glittering metals held deep within the earth’s core.
INSPIRATION
Pluto’s plight was to rule the UNDERWORLD: the final destination for the dead but also DEEP EARTH the place of riches and opulence abundant with precious jewels, oil, minerals and resources and the earth necessary for a bountiful harvest. Brother to the King of the Gods Jupiter, PLUTO was a powerful and magnetic personality.
This perfume was created with Persephone’s Patchouli as a pair. Two perfumers explores the central note of Patchouli through two lenses of the same story: that of Pluto and his Queen Persephone.
PERFUMER’S NOTES
“The idea was to build a black patchouli, with a furry texture as black as the panther.
It starts with pink and black pepper blended with citruses (bergamot and mandarin) to create a fresh dark top note enhancing the camphor notes of patchouli. I played with a suede leather accord of mate absolute, birch and a smoky twist with cade and rich smoked precious woods to create a synergy between resins and woods and strengthen the character of musk.
I softened that with a blend of cistus, labdanum extracts and other amber materials to give the furry and smooth signature. Bits of carnation (spicy rose character) and other floral elements are enriching the fragrance to give it depth and structure.” Kévin Mathys

INSPIRATION
The fresh faced natural beauty of Persephone was free from artifice or evil, her sweet nature and purity of soul was adored by gods, goddesses and humankind. Her playground and purpose was nature, symbolic of spring and summer, she was associated with flowers, harvest, fruit, grain and the beauty and bounty of nature.

PERFUMERS NOTE
“I used patchouli heart which is a cleaner patchouli note and enriched with musky and ambery textures. On top, I added fresh spicy elements, notably Cardamom from Guatemala. I combined the patchouli character with floral notes of Bulgarian rose. To enhance the fruity part of the rose, I added a note of plum that also goes really well with the warmth of the patchouli. For the floral heart, I used responsibly-sourced jasmine from Egypt for its richness. I added a gourmand twist with honey and a touch of coffee. This is rounded by a creamy facet with sandalwood notes and blond woods. And of course 6 pomegranate seeds.” Christian Provenzano
