THE STORY: Famed as the Eighth Wonder of the World, The Amber Room was presented to Peter the Great by the King of Prussia. Glowing at the heart of Catherine Palace near St Petersburg, the chamber was lined entirely with amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors. When lit with more than five hundred candles it was reputed to glow like trapped sunshine and fiery gold. Amelie Bourgeois rose to the challenge of finding the notes for such a strong-willed perfume. She built a floral, spicy jus, gentle yet feisty, reflecting the paradox of Laskarina. You could say it embodies the iron fist in a velvet glove. Starting off on fresh, sweet notes, it ends on unyielding accords of pepper and amber.
